Sightseeing Tours

THURSDAY, OCTOBER 25

Baseball Bats and Glass
9:30 am –12:30 pm, $36 per person
Step up to the plate at the Louisville Slugger Museum and experience the sensation of a 90-mph pitch whizzing under your chin.  Hear replays and see videos of great moments in baseball history.  Take a walk into a Northern white ash “forest” and find out how the wood is cut, processed and whirled into Louisville Slugger Bats.  Next you’ll tour Glassworks’ architectural glass art studio, glassblowing facilities and shop. 

Historic Louisville
1:00 – 4:00 pm, $36 per person
You’ll travel by coach through Victorian neighborhoods to view the University of Louisville and Churchill Downs.  The first stop is Locust Grove, a Georgian-style plantation, the last home of General George Rogers Clark, the founder of Louisville, best known for his expeditions in the Northwest Territory.  Situated on 55 acres, Locust Grove maintains beautiful gardens and trees.  Your final stop will be at the world-famous Louisville Stoneware, one of the most revered stoneware-manufacturing firms, featuring handmade collectibles, dinnerware and bake-ware.


                                               
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 26

Backstretch Breakfast Tour and Kentucky Derby Museum
7:30 – 11:00 am, $52 per person
As the horses breeze by on their morning workouts, your guide will explain the training process that transforms a young horse into a racing legend.  You’ll rub elbows with trainers, jockeys and exercise riders as you enjoy a delicious country-style breakfast in the track kitchen.  On a walk through the shed rows you’ll see a Thoroughbred up close and personal. Your Kentucky Derby Museum visit begins with the “call to the post” and a multimedia production depicting Derby Day from dawn to dusk. Everyone will want to wander through the newly renovated museum and enjoy the many hands-on exhibits, Derby artifacts and trophy room.
